Welcome back to what we all know will be another great school year in music education!

I am very excited to have started my position as the new CA Tri-M Representative for CMEA this past June and I am working hard to continue the growth of Tri-M that we have seen in California these past 18 months. Since its beginning in 1936, the Tri-M Music Honor Society has been providing students and music programs across the country with the direction and means to music mastery and community service. Within the last year, CMEA met its goal to double the current active chapter memberships in California, and though we are happy with where we’ve gone, there’s much more growth available to us! Find out how Tri-M can support, improve, and augment your music program, it has a place in every music program at every middle and high school in California! Take a moment to visit NAfME Tri-M page and learn all about how it’s a fit for you and your program: Let me also use this opportunity to remind you of some up-and-coming events in the world of Tri-M:

1.  The first annual California Tri-M Leadership Day is Saturday, October 10, 2015! You are invited to attend this short, one-day conference in the morning at one of two regional sites (Northern and Southern CA). Our goal is to leave you with tangible ideas and materials to help you implement successful service project events in your community and school through Tri-M. If you don’t have a Tri-M chapter, you are in the process of renewing your chapter, or you have let your chapter membership lapse, we want to see you there! The cost is $10 per registrant.

We all work to give our students the best musical opportunities and experiences we can. A Tri-M chapter at your campus will strengthen your existing music program as well as facilitate a broader musical impact for your students and community. Here’s to a great year in music service.
